Tourism Regulations

The number of tourists visiting Bhutan has been strictly monitored and kept at the manageable level so that traditional culture can be preserved and nurtured. The Bhutanese are highly religious and therefore it is important to understand the religion and cultural sensitivity of the country. The tourism industry in Bhutan in founded on the principle of sustainability, meaning that tourism must be environmentally and ecologically friendly, socially and culturally acceptable and also economically viable. Considering the above facts the tourism in Bhutan is carefully monitored and the number of tourists visiting Bhutan is kept to an environmentally manageable level.

Daily tariff rates for the tourists are set by the Royal Government of Bhutan. The tariff rate covers the following services:

  • Accommodations and all meals
  • Transport and guide/tour leader
  • Entrance fees to museums, monuments and cultural sites
  • Cultural programme for group above three people
